In September screening, Green Film Commune introduces <The Look of Silence>(2014), a documentary film to show the story that Adi confronts the men who brutally killed his brother Ramli 50 years ago, when the purge of communists took place in 1965.

While the director’s previous film <The Act of Killing> focuses on the deceits of the killers who reminisce their dark deeds, <The Look of Silence> approaches the truth of the enforced silence and breathtaking fear which have deeply permeated their lives for 50 years, through the view of the victim Adi.

Joshua Oppenheimer, a director of this film insists that the silence forced by the fears can not be confined to the issue of Indonesia, adding that it’s a normal reality that all we have been going through, but that we’ve been always trying to ignore at the same time. Please join us and share your thoughts on the silence of victims after watching the film together.
