Roundtable 1: The Role and Value of Short FIlm Market

Film festivals aren’t only about screenings, awards and red carpets. For filmmakers, they also represent opportunities to develop their professional connections, to lobby for their next projects and, generally, to meet and converse with peers. Some festivals even make sure to provide their guests with as many networking opportunities and incentives as possible by establishing film markets. While these platforms may seem to make more sense for feature film festivals such as Cannes, Berlin or Busan, several short film markets also exist and thrive. But is the global short film industry profitable enough to justify the creation of more short film markets?
