Through a wide range of cultural exchange among Japan, China and South Korea, this project aims to deepen mutual understanding and build a sense of solidarity in the East Asian region, as well as to enhance the ability of intercultural communication. . In 2018, Busan was selected as the cultural city of Korea, along with lively cultural cities of Harbin in China and Kanazawa in Japan respectively, organizing collaborative tasks with those cites. . As one of the collaborative projects, Busan has performed “2018 Busan Cultural City of East Asia Documentary Production Residency Project”, where filmmakers from Busan produce a documentary film about art and culture in each city. . In Kanazawa, a UNESCO Creative City of crafts & Folk Art, the story of the craftsmen and works are mainly focused, whereas in Harbin, a renowned city of music in China, a wide range of music events including summer music concert are described in a viewpoint of Busan’s filmmakers. Harbin, where Ahn Jung-geun assassinated Into Hirobumi, is familiar to Korean, sharing a lot in common, while the spirit of Goguryeo has been ingrained into the city. However there are a lot of things that we don’t know about this northern city Harbin. Harbin Summer Music Festival with the time-honored tradition, people who love music and their vitality filling the entire city and Jeong Yul-seong, the master of Chinese national music are the other side of Harbin which we don’t know about Harbin.
